RIBA Beyond Borders Exhibition

Completed whilst working at Studio Gil.

The RIBA commissioned Studio Gil to design an exhibition for their Beyond Borders 2017 Exhibition, showcasing the shortlisted entries.

Taking up an empty shop unit in East Street Market, South London, Studio Gil designed and built a series of structures from 48x48mm timber joists and 18mm Birch plywood onto which drawings and models could be mounted and placed.

Whilst seemingly modest, on closer inspection, one can appreciate a series of explorations of cross-bracing and joint connections that not only serves a structural purpose, but also creates a pattern that unifies the exhibition on aesthetic terms.

Working to a modest budget, the project was built on site by Studio Gil, former students from Brighton University and Greenwich University and the RIBA Young People's Forum.
